how food packaging enterprises realize green packaging

according to IS014000 series standards, food packaging manufacturers must do the following work to realize green packaging

1. establishing an environmental management system

establishing an "environmental management system" (EMS) is the first step for food packaging enterprises to move towards green packaging, just as ISO9000 requires the establishment of a "quality system". Its task is to formulate and implement environmental policies, plan environmental activities, implement environmental management, and conduct supervision and inspection. The core elements of the management system include the company's environmental policy, environmental planning, implementation and operation, inspection and correction, and management review. The management system will ensure the enterprise to achieve the goal of green packaging. The environmental policies, objectives and activity plans formulated by the enterprise shall be compatible with its own attributes, scale, production (activities), products and services' impact on the environment, and shall have commitments to save resources, prevent pollution and comply with relevant laws and regulations

2. pass the environmental certification

Type III mark is the environmental "quality mark" of the product, which is marked with specific digital indicators and line segments at the same time, which is more intuitive and convenient. Government agencies of various countries will recommend products and packages with environmental labels to users or consumers

4. environmental behavior assessment (EPE)

the results were characterized by "environmental behavior index" (Epis). The evaluation results will help packaging enterprises to save resources, prevent pollution, use new technologies and new management systems, so as to make them reach a new level

5. life cycle assessment shall be carried out for packaged products, It refers to the whole process of product (packaging) "material mining, processing and manufacturing, circulation, utilization, recycling and waste treatment" and "coming from the earth and returning to the earth". It is also translated as "ecological cycle" or "ecosystem". To manufacture any kind of product, we must first "input" materials, energy, manpower, etc., and then "output" the product. The "product" of this industry must have a production line that can cast strip width of 1727.2mm (68 inches) . the slab thickness is 2.3mm~5.1mm (0.09 inch ~0.20 inch), the casting speed is 61m/min~27.4m/min (200ft/min~90ft/min), and the slab temperature is 567 ℃ (1050 DEG; F), including the required products, wastes, excreta, etc. Therefore, IS014000 requires packaging enterprises to carry out the above "whole process" life cycle assessment (LCA) on packaging products, so as to control the "whole process", adopt "zero pollution" or "clean process", and produce "green products" to meet the standard of green packaging

at present, the world generally attaches importance to environmental protection. Therefore, there are many new specific provisions on food packaging materials in the world. Moreover, our main goal of packaging food is to preserve quality and freshness, avoid environmental pollution and have a certain degree of aesthetics. Therefore, the development and application of green packaging will be the theme of food packaging both now and in the future
